Our course in Creating useful requirements gives you a solid basis for describing industrial products and services with requirements adapted to your unique needs. In the course, we will guide you through the fundamental parts of requirements engineering and demonstrate how you may combine them in an effective way.

We will address techniques for structured formulation of requirements and show how the requirements text can be combined with attributes for e.g. configuration and risk management as well as requirements’ relationships as traceability and decomposition. You will also learn alternative ways of organizing requirements within a specification, and how several requirements specifications together can describe a complex system or a customer-supplier relationship.

Creating useful requirements combines interactive lectures with group exercises and breakout discussions. Theory, frameworks and principles are explained using real-world examples. The course gives you an applied introduction to requirements and requirements management, and is adapted to IREB, INCOSE, ISO/IEC 15288 and ISO/IEC 42010.

After this course, you will have a fundamental understanding of what you need for creating, analyzing, and maintaining useful requirements. You will also have practiced your skills in requirements formulation and review.


Dr Jonas Andersson is a well-known lecturer with more than 20 years’ experience of systems engineering and engineering management. He heads Decisionware AB and is Associate professor at the Norwegian Centre for Systems Engineering at the University College of South East Norway in Kongsberg. Jonas holds a Ph.D. in Industrial Information and Control Systems from the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Stockholm, and is also a former adjunct professor in military-technology at the Swedish National Defence College. Within the International Council on Systems Engineering - INCOSE, Jonas is a founding member of the Swedish INCOSE Chapter and has served on the international board of directors as Associate director for Events and Director for Strategy. Jonas is also a Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP). Over the last 15 years, Jonas has delivered 100+ courses in systems engineering and engineering management directed towards both Nordic and international clients.

Riku Salminen is an Engineering Management Consultant with a long experience from the defence environment in both industry and government positions. Recently he has been working also in the nuclear energy sector.  Riku has MSc in Systems Engineering degree from Cranfield University and also MSc in Engineering from Tampere University of Technology. Riku is a Member of Board of FINSE ry – the Finnish Chapter of INCOSE. He is the owner of Finnish consulting company SYSE Oy.

Mikäli ilmoittautumisen peruutus tehdään vähemmän kuin kaksi (2) viikkoa ennen kurssin alkua, veloitamme toimisto- ja varauskuluina 50% kurssimaksusta. Mikäli ilmoittautunut jää saapumatta kurssille ilman peruutusilmoitusta, veloitamme koko osallistumismaksun. Kurssimateriaalin toimittamisesta oppilaalle peruuntumistapauksessa veloitamme lisäksi 100 EUR. Peruutusmaksut veloitetaan myös sairastapauksissa.
